耶穌基督在平安夜於馬槽中誕生，是去指引我們，傳播天主的旨意。
耶穌誕生在一個平民家庭，選擇作為窮木匠若瑟和聖母瑪利亞的兒子。這是為讓耶穌以一個一般人的身份，傳播福音。生於一個皇帝家庭，或一個有權有勢的家庭中的話，即使耶穌多麼努力，人們也未必會信服。伯多祿等門徒捨棄一切，之後跟隨耶穌。（路五1-11）耶穌又拒絕了魔鬼給他的權勢和榮耀。（路四5-8）這證明了傳福音是不需要財富、榮華和權勢的。因此耶穌誕生在貧窮的環境，是放棄了物質的享受，完成使命，光榮天主。
天主的旨意之一是要我們愛人如己，樂於助人。耶穌曾在安息日治好病婦，不惜頂撞會堂長。（路十三10-17）會堂長是當時很有權勢的人，那時得罪權貴可以是十分危險的，耶穌這樣就是為了讓我們效法祂要幫助其他人。耶穌又用了撒瑪黎雅人的比喻，（路十25-37）叫我們不僅要愛我們的近人，也要愛其他仁慈的人。而且更和稅吏同席，（路五27-32）又將天國應許給在右邊被釘的悔改的罪犯，（路廿三39-43）提醒我們去接納肯悔改的人，當時和稅吏同席，是要被人鄙視的。耶穌為了宣揚天主的旨意，甘願被人鄙視、得罪權貴，最後被釘在十字架上，還寬恕了害死自己的人，（路廿三34）就是為了去完成祂的使命，並從中光榮天主。
另外，天父也想我們要有信德。耶穌在治好十個癩病人後，對歸光榮天主的那人說是信德救了他（路十七11-19），而不是耶穌自己，以證明信德使人得救，光榮天父。在有風浪時，又提醒眾人要有信德。（路八22-25)。在耶穌所行的奇蹟中，他從不將功勞歸於自己，而是人的信德，去完成他的使命，光榮天主。
綜合整個路加福音，我認為耶穌不享受可得到的富貴，甘願捨身受難，承受難以想像的痛苦，並不將功勞歸於自己，是去完成他的使命（指引眾人，傳播天主的旨意）並光榮天主。我們應該要效法耶穌，愛人如己、對天主懷有信德，並不要因痛苦而背棄天主。

“No, please don’t throw them away!” I begged my mother.
“You failed your English test again! You can’t waste your time on painting!”
My mother was so mad at me last month, and she threw all my paintbrushes and drawing pads away. I cried my heart out but my father didn’t say a word.
When I was small, I didn’t like to talk with my classmates. Having a piece of paper was my only pleasure as I could draw whatever I like.
One day, when I was doodling, my teacher praised me for my simple drawing.
“Beautiful,” said Ms. Chan.
I remembered her word by heart, so I kept drawing whenever I had spare time. However, I failed my English test, and my mother was very upset, so I decided to leave my drawing for a while to focus on my studies.
Last week, I got 100 marks in English dictation, and that’s indeed a good way to show my parents the little progress I have made in the last month. Yesterday was my birthday, when I was wondering what I would receive from my parents. I found a new set of paintbrushes in my drawer. They were from my dearest father.

Now, I know I have a secret supporter, so I’ll do my best in my studies and my drawing to pursue my dream of being an artist.
