Vienna is said to be a city in Roman times. It was the capital of the Austrian Empire in 1804 and Austro-Hungarian Empire 1867. It was also the centre of classical music. Famous composers and musicians regarded it as an honour to have worked in Vienna. These are the familiar names, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, and Johannes Brahms; and of course Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss I & II were born here.

V i e n n a h a s a number of museums in Museumsquartier(博物館區)and it housed the largest collection of Pieter Bruegel, a Dutch Renaissance painter. In the city centre, there is the famous Albertina and has housed some of the greatest collection of Jewelry art.

At the centre o f t h e o l d c i t y stands the Stephen Cathedral and you can say all roads lead to the Cathedral. The cathedral is very impressive and like all churches in Europe, it is always packed with tourists but they have assigned a quiet area for the Adoration of the Eucharist (朝拜聖體). There is another church near the cathedral called St Peter Church and it is under the care of Opus Dei. The church is of grandeur Baroque(富麗堂皇的巴洛克) architecture and has provided organ concert to charm its visitors every day.

There are numerous cafes in Vienna but there are two famous one. The first one is Café Central that welcomed intellectuals(知識分子)since the turn of the 19th century and it still a place that attracts thinkers and writers. Try it and become one of them. The other one is inside Hotel Sacher where you can try the original Sacher-torta – chocolate cake.

Last but not least, the Schönbrunn Palace is a must visit place and it is slightly older than Chateau of Versailles of Paris and it has a garden that used to be a hunting ground.
