York

 Situated in North Yorkshire, York is the second most visited city in England. It attracted a lot of visitors because of its historic（歷史上有重大意義的）buildings and its long history, which can be dated back to 71 AD. York was founded（創立）by the Romans in 71 AD and was captured by the Vikings in 866 AD. It also witnessed a lot of wars and battles during the Stuart and Tudor times. No wonder King George VI once said, “The history of York is the history of England.” 

Visit Northumberland!

Northumberland is a rural county in the most northern part of England. As it is very close to Scotland, its scenery is very different from other parts of England. It is also the most sparsely populated（人口稀少的）county in England. When I was travelling in this area last September, I visited Alnwick Castle and Holy Island. 

Songs and Singers

I really like listening to English songs, especially those from British singers. My favourite band is the Beatles! This amazing band was formed in Liverpool by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr in 1960, and their popularity quickly spread around the globe（地球）. Although around 40 years have passed since the band dissolved（解散）, they are still the best-selling band of all time. 

Oxbridge

"Oxbridge" is a term that refers to the two prestigious（著名的） universities in the United Kingdom - the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. They are the first and the second oldest universities in the English-speaking world with over 800 years of history. 

There is a long history of rivalry（競爭）between the two universities. Apart from competing for university rankings, the two universities also compete in sports competitions like the annual Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race.
