Have you read the book War Horse written by Michael Morpurgo? The story is about the love and special bond between a boy and a horse. The setting is on Dartmoor in Devon. The book has been made into a play which is running in London right now. The world-famous film director Steven Spielberg also directed a film based on the novel and it was released on the 13th of January this year. Part of Steven Spielberg's film was shot on Dartmoor as Dartmoor is famous for its ruggedness and its beauty. When Steven Spielberg came to Dartmoor to check the filming location, he was fascinated by the scenery. He made a comment that “There's no place like it in the world. When I got to Dartmoor I realised I had a third character that I had to include in War Horse and that was the land and the sky, so Dartmoor plays a major role.”

Wild ponies roaming is another attraction on Dartmoor. Ponies are small and strong horses. On Dartmoor, we often find families of wild ponies grazing. I was there this summer and was impressed by their beauty. I took a lot of photos of them. However, I guessed I got too close to them, a few ponies soon started walking towards me. I was in a panic and didn't know what to do. I just stood still. I was lucky that they finally turned and walked away from me. By the way, can anyone tell me what I should do if a pony does walk straight up to me?
