Peter’s grandfather is changing more and more lately（近來）. I t seems（好像）that he is another person. He starts to get very irritated（煩躁）and always scolds people. He keeps asking when dinner will be served（開飯）, even right after taking（吃）his meal. Peter is feeling very upset with his grandfather’s behaviour（行為）, particularly（尤其是）his grandfather had been so close to him before. What could have happened to beloved grandfather?
Then one day Peter’s parents told him that grandfather is suffering（患上）from dementia （老人癡呆症）. He will only get worse and there is no medication（藥物）to cure（治癒）this disease. In the worst case, he may not even remember who Peter is and cannot remember how to go home after going out. Peter sobbed（啜泣） for a long time and felt pity for（同情）his grandfather.
What would you do if you were Peter?
- I will try not to blame（責怪） my grandfather because he is having an incurable disease （不可治癒的病）. I would stay away（避開）as much as possible, so I would not be bothered（使不安）by him. I’d put on headphones（耳機）so I’d not hear him scolding me.
- I understand if my grandfather has dementia, it must be very hard on my parents too. If I can be of help in any way, I’d be willing to（願意）. In case I got wronged or scolded by my grandfather, it is important that I would not be upset and be understanding the situation （處境）.
