Inner Mongolia

While Mongolia is a separate country to the north of China, Inner Mongolia is an autonomous (自治)region in northern China. Attracted by its vast grasslands, I travelled to this mysterious region few years ago.
I took an overnight train from Beijing to Inner Mongolia. As It takes around 10 hours to travel from Beijing to Hohhot, the capital Inner Mongolia, I bought a hard sleeper(硬卧)ticket. I was quite excited as it was my first time to sleep overnight in a train!
When I arrived at Inner Mongolia, I was amazed by the scenic grasslands which stretched as far as the eye could see. I went horse riding for the first time. Although I was a bit scared, it was so much fun!
I stayed in a Mongolian tent(蒙古包), which is the traditional dwelling(住處)for the Mongolian people. As there were no bathing facilities in the tent, I didn’t take a bath for 3 days! Although it was a bit uncomfortable, it was really a memorable experience. The best travelling experience often requires you to step out of your comfort zone!
Inner Mongolia is also a splendid place for stargazing. As there aren’t any tall buildings in the grasslands, the sky is so clear that you can see thousands of stars in the sky at night. I still remember seeing meteors(流星)and the milky way. It was truly an amazing experience.
