As a Catholic, I had been longing to visit the Vatican since I was small. I was really excited when I had the chance to visit this holy place which drew millions of pilgrims（朝聖者）every year.
Although it is located in the city of Rome, Vatican City is an internationally-recognized（國際認可的）independent state headed by the Pope. At noon every Sunday, the Pope would appear from the window of the Papal apartment to bless the crowd at St. Peter’s Square. I still remember before noon, lots of people were standing at St. Peter’s Square waiting for the Pope’s blessing. When Pope Benedict XVI appeared, the crowd including me exclaimed（呼喊） with joy!
After seeing the Pope, I went to St. Peter’s Basilica and attended a mass there. After receiving the Holy Communion, I climbed 551 steps to the top of the dome to see the view of St. Peter’s Square. The view from the dome is truly breathtaking（令人驚嘆的）.
If you go to Vatican City, you can pay a visit to the Vatican Museums, where you can find the famous Sistine Chapel and artwork collected by the popes throughout the centuries. There were a lot of people as it was the last Sunday of the month, the only day of the month where entry is free. Although I queued for around two hours to get in, it was really worth it as I could see Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgment” and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel!//php print_r($node); ?>
